What Makes Irish Whisky So Delicious?
IRISH WHISKY has a special place in the global whisky market because of its unique flavour and aroma. In fact, it is often regarded as one of the best-tasting whiskies out there!
But why is that? What makes Irish whisky more delicious than all other whiskies?
Let’s take a deeper look into the process that makes this golden liquid so exquisite.
The Process Behind the Magic
Irish whisky is made from malted barley, water, and yeast. The barley used in production is usually grown in Ireland itself, giving it an extra layer of authenticity.
The barley is then mashed and distilled twice in copper pot stills before being aged for at least three years in oak wooden barrels.
The longer the whisky matures, the smoother and more flavorful it becomes. This slow maturation process gives Irish whisky its distinct taste.
The Distillation Process
An important part of making Irish whiskey is the distillation process.
Most other whiskies are only distilled once, but with Irish whiskey it’s double distillation that makes all the difference.
This means that only the purest and most refined alcohol vapours make it through to be used for ageing and ultimately bottling.
This double distillation method results in a smooth and mellow flavour compared to other whiskies which can be quite sharp or harsh on the palate.
The Aging Process
After distillation comes ageing – one of the most critical parts of creating an amazing quality whiskey!
As we mentioned earlier, Irish whiskey must be aged for at least three years before bottling but some varieties can mature up to twelve years or even longer!
During this time, each barrel interacts differently with oxygen as well as its neighbours within the warehouse – adding extra layers of complexity to each individual batch’s flavour profile.
As a result, every bottle you pick up will have something new to offer your palate!
Irish whiskey truly stands out from other types of whiskies due to its unique distilling and ageing processes which impart distinctive flavors not found elsewhere.
All these elements come together to create a smooth yet complex drink that you can enjoy for any occasion – whether you’re looking for a sipping whiskey or mixing up some cocktails!
So if you haven’t tried Irish whiskey yet – what are you waiting for?! Go ahead and give it a try – we guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
