Australians Question Australia Post as Delays Continue
Australia Post built its reputation on reliability. Parcels arrived within a reasonable timeframe, and when something went wrong, answers followed quickly.
Lately, more Australians are questioning whether that’s still true.
Reviews on Trustpilot, posts on Reddit, and complaints to the Commonwealth Ombudsman all tell a similar story: delayed deliveries, tracking that stalls for days, parcels turning up in the wrong place, and “attempted delivery” notices for homes nobody actually visited.
Getting a straight answer from customer service is often its own challenge – and Ombudsman figures show delays, lost parcels, damaged items and complaint handling remain the top issues raised year after year.
To be fair, the frustration isn’t usually aimed at posties or counter staff, who are still widely praised. It’s the systems behind them that people are losing faith in.
We’ve seen it ourselves at Global Flavors. Almost twenty years with Australia Post, and they were never perfect but they were dependable – we could tell customers when a parcel would arrive, and problems got sorted quickly.
Now, parcels sit without a tracking update for days, customers ask us where their order is and we know as little as they do, and we’re sometimes told to wait ten business days before an investigation even starts.
For our customers, waiting on something important, that’s a long time.
Australia Post still delivers millions of parcels successfully every week. But the volume of complaints across review sites, forums and official channels suggests plenty of Australians think the service isn’t what it used to be.
Whether that’s a rough patch or something longer-term, only Australia Post can say. What’s clear is more people are asking.
Until next time… Happy Distilling!
Cheers
