SATURN 2 is Your NEW Distilling Workhorse!
The NEW Saturn 2 is a reflux distilling column designed for perfumes, alcohol, essential oils, and more. It’s a brand new design using top-grade materials and expert engineering.
The technology is purpose-built to eliminate constant adjustment of cooling water.
It also slashes run time to just a couple of hours. With a larger boiler capacity, you can complete 6 or 7 times the volume in the same time it takes a T500.
You can run a 25-litre wash in just two hours.
Manufactured from 308 stainless steel, the attractive and practical column head will delight anyone tired of watching their still like a hawk for 6 hours straight.
Cooling water usage is around 2 to 2.5 litres per minute and runs at about 44°C. After 3 years of testing, we have complete confidence in this product – or Global Flavors wouldn’t put it on the market.
The unit features a snap-in refill fitting, so the boiler can be topped up after draining (drain tap included).
You’ll save time, power, money… and water!
It also includes a quick push-in fitting for cleaning – allowing fluid to be pumped in reverse through the spirit outlet into the boiler. A standard garden hose can be used to rinse it all out. All easy-peasy thanks to the push-in fittings.
What About the Boiler?
For new setups, Global Flavors recommends a 65-litre boiler from Kegland (ordered through us). The Saturn 2 also suits most existing setups – you’ll just need a 2-inch hole.
The lid must be strong enough to support the column head, which weighs 8.5 kg. The height of the unit also means a sturdy construction is a must.
We’ll be supplying a reinforced lid for those choosing the Kegland boiler.
This boiler uses a 15 AMP plug, which has a larger earth pin and requires a 15 AMP socket. You can get an ARLEC 10-to-15 AMP adaptor at Bunnings.
The boiler has 3 separate power switches: 500W, 1000W, and 2000W. If you’re using a 10 AMP socket, you’ll only be able to use the 2000W option.
Here are some average results from 3.5 years of testing (25-litre wash, cooling and wash at 31°C, running at 2400W):
- Heads start at 34 minutes
- Finish of hearts at 1 hr 55 mins
- Yields 3.3 litres of hearts at 90+% ABV
Using the Kegland boiler at full 15 AMP power (up to 3500W) brings these times down further. We’ll be testing 25-litre runs at that level shortly.
Shipping time for the Saturn 2 Reflux Column is approximately 45 days.
We’ll be starting with an order of 40 units once enough interest is shown. The full unit cost is AUD $1600.00 AUD, including the lid, plus freight.
A $1000.00 deposit secures one of the first units. They’ll arrive and be shipped in individual pieces. Assembly is simple and fully explained. A full guarantee and backup spares mean you’ll be well looked after.
